In 2010, the Ford rocked the world with the introduction of the F-150 Raptor. The Raptor was the world’s most Baja-ready production truck you could buy from the factory. No truck outside of specially built prerunners had ever been able to throw sand and jump dunes like the Ford Raptor. Along with its impressive dynamic capabilities, the first-gen Raptor was the most powerful 4×4 full-size pickup ever made. The truck could be ordered with either a 5.3L V8 producing 320 horsepower or a more widely accepted 6.2L V8 that produced 411 horsepower.
The introduction of the Raptor started a new chapter for Hennessey Performance that nobody could have guessed would change the outlook of the company forever. Hennessey offered three packages for the truck, transforming the Raptor into the appropriately christened VelociRaptor®. Whether you wanted your VelociRaptor to remain naturally aspirated or jump to forced induction, Hennessey had a solution for you. The early twin-turbocharged and later supercharged Velociraptors made 800 and 600 horsepower, respectively. The first-generation Raptor grew in popularity through the end of its production in 2014.
Then, in 2017, the Raptor exchanged its V8 for a twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 with the introduction of the second-gen. But an EcoBoost V6 wouldn’t stop Hennessey from once again bringing on the horsepower. Using their knowledge from modifying twin turbo cars in the late 1990s, the team was able to make the V6 VelociRaptor pump out a rambunctious 605 horsepower. After a few years and more than a dozen requests from customers, Hennessey added a limited run of supercharged 5.0 V8 swapped Raptors making 758 horsepower from a supercharged 5.0L V8.
Fast forward a few more years, the Raptor entered its third generation in 2021. The powertrain would remain the same with the EcoBoost and no increase in power. Then in 2021, the Ram TRX arrived on the scene with a supercharged 6.2L Hellcat V8 under the hood. The TRX produced a mental 707 horsepower from the factory. Ford responded a couple of years later by stuffing a supercharged 5.2 liter V8 from the Shelby GT500 into the Raptor, bringing factory horsepower to 700 and giving the world the gift of the RAPTOR R.
With more displacement to play with, Hennessey saw the potential to give the Raptor more horsepower. A lot more. In 2023, Hennessey unveiled the mighty VelociRaptoR 1000. The Ford Raptor R upgrade consists of numerous upgrades including a new larger 3.8-liter supercharger. The VelociRaptoR 1000 produces 1,043 horsepower and 824 lb-ft of torque. The truck rockets from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.1 seconds. That’s quicker than Ford’s own S550 Shelby GT500 Mustang.
Hennessey has been building Raptors to be faster and more capable for over a decade. Whether you want a truck that can embarrass exotics at a red light or
keep up with competition trucks in the sand, the VelociRaptoR 1000 allows you to do so without sacrificing the refinement and comfort from the factory.
