Production of Ford’s legendary, flat-plane-crank, naturally-aspirated 5.2L ‘Voodoo’ V8 engine in the Shelby GT350 and GT350R Mustang has ended, yet Hennessey continues to celebrate the excellent platform with every build that comes through the shop. We still actively work and build upgrades for the Shelby GT350 and GT350R platforms regardless of Ford’s end in production.
The GT350 and GT350R Mustang from the factory produce a healthy 526 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque. We saw the potential for increasing those numbers to unleash the full potential of the incredible V8 under the Shelby’s hood. The Hennessey supercharged 850-horsepower upgrade for the 2018-2020* Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT350R take the factory horsepower and torque to a menacing 850 horsepower and 673 lb.-ft. of torque. The 40% increase in power turns the already capable track car into an entirely different machine without sacrificing the car’s signature capabilities or features. The supercharged Shelby GT350 Mustang maintains its class-leading 8.250 RPM redline and all mechanical and driver-controlled track electronics.
The Shelby GT350 has widely been recognized as the flagship trackable Mustang from Ford. The GT350 positions itself above the Ford Mustang GT, GT Performance Package, and Mach I – all of which use the 5.0L ‘Coyote’ V8 rather than the 5.2L ‘Voodoo.’ The GT350R receives several unique components to enhance its trackability further. Carbon-fiber wheels and a tall carbon-fiber rear spoiler help with weight reduction and downforce. Both models come with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and Brembo 6-piston brakes up front and 4-piston in the rear. The carbon fiber wheels on the ‘R’ model help save roughly 60 lbs compred to the non-carbon 350 wheels. Lastly, a larger front splitter and rear-seat-delete further enforce the “track-oriented” intention of the ‘R’ model. Both models of the Mustang are only available with a Tremec TR-3160 6-speed manual transmission.
Hennessey’s supercharged 850 horsepower upgrade comes complete with a 3.0L roots-style supercharger, an upgraded throttle body, high-flow fuel injectors, a new heat exchanger, performance air intake, and proprietary engine calibration. Each Hennessey GT350 and GT350R build receives unique badging inside and out and a serialized engine plaque. The Hennessey upgrade for the GT350 Mustang enhances the car’s trackability and does not impede performance. From a better 0-60 mph time to its much broader power band, the supercharged 5.2L V8 “wakes up” the car and results in performance that rivals that of the new Shelby GT500. Hennessey’s supercharged 850 horsepower upgrade for the Shelby Mustang comes with a best in-class 2-year / 24,000-mile limited warranty so owners can enjoy their car with added peace of mind.

Our strict quality control and high assessment standards help us deliver the best possible product. When vehicles get older and accumulate miles, components age, and wear – understandably, the risk factor of modifying them increases. As a result, Hennessey Performance does not offer a warranty on vehicles older than three years, regardless of condition or maintenance, or vehicles with more than 20,000 miles.
