Simply put – Hennessey’s Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Is the Last of Its Kind.
The sport sedan formula has become scarce. BMW’s M5 has grown heavier than a Tahoe while Mercedes’s E63 AMG loses two cylinders to hybrid technology. Even Dodge’s Charger is trading its rowdy V8 for a turbocharged straight-six or electric powertrain. But there’s one brand that continues to do it right… Cadillac has entirely ignored this exodus of displacement in the industry. In 2021 the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing was introduced. A sport sedan designed through and through for enthusiasts. That still rings true for the new 2025 model year. The 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing boasts the same 668 horsepower from a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 – and yes, you can still row your gears. But after four strong years on the market, the sport sedan will see several new updates in 2025.
The refreshed CT5 is not radically different for 2025 – why fix it if it’s not broken – but it does see subtle improvements. On the exterior, the headlights have been enlarged with vertical LEDs and the grille has been sharpened. Climb inside and the CT5 receives the massive and highly customizable 33-inch LED display that appears on other Cadillac models. The optional Performance Data package can now be viewed from the infotainment rather than requiring a laptop.
In addition to new tech, the 2025 V-series gets three new paint colors: Drift Metallic (baby blue), Typhoon metallic (green), and Deep Space metallic (grey). No mechanical changes have been made for 2025. With the fast Caddy sticking around for a little while longer, Hennessey Performance is proud to continue offering our 1,000-horsepower upgrade for the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. The H1000 package maintains all the factory refinement and comfort that Cadillac is known for, with the fun of exotic and sports car-like performance under the hood.
The H1000 upgrade for the CT5 was designed specifically for owners looking for something even more extreme. With a 50 percent increase in power, 1,000 horsepower and 966 pound-feet of torque, the car rockets from zero to sixty miles per hour in just 2.5 seconds. The upgrade and performance figures are achieved with various upgrades including a larger high-flow supercharger, custom camshaft, long-tube headers, and more.
The factory Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing has already proved itself to be a track weapon, besting the BMW M5 CS around Willow Springs achieving a lap time of 1:28.07 with Randy Pobst at the helm. For comparison, a 991 generation Porsche 911 GT3 clocked 1:27.22. The difference between the two cars is that one is a purpose-built track car and the other is a saloon that can seat four adults comfortably.
As a champion sport sedan, the Cadillac CT-5 V Blackwing must look elsewhere for competition. With a little more grunt, it has the potential of embarrassing mid-engined exotics. Hennessey’s upgrades for the CT5-V Blackwing and other Cadillac models are excellent methods of turning your daily driver to an unassuming, fun, and reliable supercar killer.
